Historical Precedents

The United States of America is unique; our collapse will also take a unique form. Nevertheless, there are various historical antecedents that can enhance our understanding of the ways our collapse may unfold. These scenarios are focused on relatively modern instances of national collapse. Historically distant antecedents, such as the fall of the Roman Empire and various Chinese dynasties, are less likely to be relevant to America’s current and future situation. This section briefly summarizes the collapse of other national governments, and then provide a plausible scenario in which a similar outcome could occur in the United States.
